------------------------ OverLoad Pack 1.0 Readme Created by Malcolm Lim ------------------------ To be used with TAUCP 2.3 and Above only. First things first - don't get confused with the name "OverLoad". It doesn't actually overload TA or do anything unusual to the game. How It Works/How To Use (OTA/Normal Users ONLY): ------------------------------------------------ In TAUCP, there are unit pack sections - ground, air, sea, hover units and structures. In order for the OverLoad pack to work, one of these sections must be disabled. As most of us are aware, TA has a ceiling limit for units of about 512 units. TAUCP, with all the unit pack sections plus TA and TA:CC contains about 511 units already. Adding more than that would crash TA. In version 1.0, there are two OverLoad packs that comes together with a frontend to perform the switching - ground and sea. It is relatively new and more new units (and overload packs) will be added in future versions, so don't worry. Lets say you want more ground units - you launch the OverLoad Frontend, choose "Ground Units OverLoad" and click on the accept changes button. This will disable the sea units section automatically so that you can have more ground units. The same thing happens with "Sea Units OverLoad" - the ground units section will be disabled instead. This only affects 3rd party units and NOT default cavedog units (but DOES affect downloadable cavedog units because they are included in the unit pack sections). How To Use (TA:Mutation/TA:Commander/Macutator): ------------------------------------------------ TA-Mutation, TA-Commander and Macutator users MUST and i repeat MUST disable the CORRECT unit pack section in order for the overload pack to work: To Play OverLoad Ground Units: - Disable TAUCP Sea Units - You may enable any other unit sections except sea units To Play OverLoad Sea Units: - Disable TAUCP Ground Units - You may enable any other unit sections except ground units If you did NOT disable the correct section, the units may NOT appear in-game and may NOT fire. Notice (OTA/Normal Users Only): ------------------------------- When you run the TAUCP Frontend, the OverLoad pack will be disabled automatically. This is because the frontend was not re-written to take advantage / detect the presence of the OverLoad Pack. So just remember to run the OverLoad Frontend and select the OverLoad pack you want AFTER running the TAUCP Frontend. Frequently Asked Questions -------------------------- Q: Why call it "OverLoad Pack"? A: I can't think of a better name and i think overload seems appropriate although it doesn't actually overloads anything ;) Q: When i run the TAUCP Frontend (not the OverLoad Frontend), my overload pack is disabled ! A: This is normal as mentioned above. So after running the TAUCP Frontend, just remember to load the OverLoad Pack that you want again.
